Biography of Rahul Dravid:
Full name of Rahul Dravid is Rahul Sharad Dravid and he is a former Indian cricketer. He has also led the team.
He is called by the nickname, Mr. Dependable and The Wall by Indian cricket.
Currently he is appointed as coach of team India for Sri Lanka tour because the head coach of national team is busy in England now days.
He is working as Director of Cricket Operations at National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru.
He has also worked as Head Coach for the India under -19 and India A teams for three years.
In 2019, he was appointed as Head of NCA by BCCI.
He is one of the greatest Batsmen in the history of cricket. He has smashed total of 24,177 runs in international cricket

Early life of Rahul Dravid:
Rahul Dravid took birth on January 11, 1973 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh blessed child of Sharad Dravid and Pushpa Dravid. Name of his younger brother is Vijay Dravid. He did his schooling from St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School, Bangalore. He completed his graduation from St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, Bangalore.
Early Career of Rahul Dravid:
Due to keen interest in cricket he stared playing at 12 years of age.
He played at level of under-15, under-17 and under-19 for Karnataka.
In February 1991, he first played in the Ranji Trophy in Pune against Maharashtra. Batting at 7th position, he made a good score of 82 runs. The match resulted as draw.
In 1991-92, he has shown performance in his first complete season. He hit 2 brilliant centuries and smash 380 runs with an excellent average of 63.3.
After that he played in Duleep Trophy for South Zone.
International Career of Rahul Dravid:
On 3 April, 1996, Rahul Dravid played first international ODI match of his career against Sri Lanka in Singer Cup in Singapore.
He was not able to show his batting skills but took 2 catches. In his next ODI also he was unable to perform well. He managed to make only 4 runs while playing against Pakistan.
Then, he got the opportunity to play Test for England tour of India. On 20 June, 1996 he played his first Test at Lord’s in second match of series as he replaced Sanjay Manjrekar, who suffered ankle injury. He came for batting at no 7 and shown hit drastically. He smashed 95 runs and dismissed by Chris Lewis. He has not only amazed everyone with his batting but also took catch, which lead to dismissal of Nasser Hussain.
In 1996-97, he hit his first hundred while playing against South Africa. He smashed first ODI fifty while playing for Sahara Cup against Pakistan.
While playing against New Zealand he became third Indian batsman to hit century in both innings of a Test.
He played in 1999 ICC Cricket World Cup and played excellent knock of 461 runs. He became first and only player to hit two hundreds in the tournament.
In 2001 , he made remarkable score of 180 runs while playing against Australia at the Eden Gardens.
From 2002 to 2006, Dravid became second highest scorer in the world and highest scorer for India. He made total of 8,914 runs with the help of 19 centuries in 174 matches at good average
of 54.02.
Dravid got the opportunity to lead team India in the first two tests because Ganguly suffered injury. Under his captaincy, India achieved first-ever Test win in Pakistan. Rahul Dravid scored 270 runs in third test and given a vital contribution to make his team win. Dravid was selected the captain for the Indian team for World Cup 2007.
Retirement of Rahul Dravid:
He played his last ODI on 16 September, 2011 against England .In August 2011; he received a surprise recall for playing ODI series against England. After that he, declared his retirement from ODIs and Twenty20 International format.
He played his last Test on 24 January 2012 against Australia and announced his retirement from Test cricket in March 2012.

- In 1999, he was awarded as the Ceat Cricketer of the 1999 World Cup.
- In 2000 his name was nominated for Wisden Cricketer of the Year 2000
- In 2004, he was honored with the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy Winner. This award is for ICC Player of the Year.
