Chennai Super Kings Pacer, Josh Hazelwood Pulls Out of IPL :
Australian pacer, Josh Hazelwood pulls out of IPL , He played for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2020 but now pulled out of the upcoming IPL season 2021.
Chennai Super Kings were dealt to blow today but Australia fast bowler, Josh Hazelwood, has taken the decision of giving this year’s IPL a miss because he want to spend some time with his family. Referring to the busy schedule ahead for the Australian cricket team, Hazelwood said that he has been part of bio-bubbles for the last 10 months and now he want to take rest from cricket to spend time with the family.
“It’s been a long 10 months in bubbles and quarantine at different times, so I decided to have a rest from cricket and spend some time at home and in Australia in the next two months. We’ve got a big winter ahead too. The West Indies is going to be a long tour, with Bangladesh T20 tour potentially thrown on the end of that,” cricket.com.au quoted Hazelwood as saying.
“Then potentially the T20 World Cup leading into the Ashes, so it’s a big 12 months, as it always is with Australia, and I want to give myself the best chance to be mentally and physically ready for that. That’s the decision I’ve made, and it sits pretty well with me,” he added.
Hazelwood, along with other members of Australia cricket team, have been part of bio-bubbles since July 2020, when Australia team went for England tour . From England Hazelwood travelled to UAE to play for Chennai Super Kings in
IPL 2020 .He returned to Australia after the tournament and had to undergo fifteen days in hotel isolation in Adelaide. After that he moved into the men’s international bubble which also contained Team India
Hazelwood is the third cricketer from Australia after Mitchell Marsh and Josh Philippe to miss IPL 2021.On Wednesday all-rounder of SunRisers Hyderabad, Mitchell Marsh had also pulled out of IPL 2021 and he was replaced by hard-hitting English batsman, Jason Roy. Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman, Joshua Philippe is also going to miss IPL 2021 because of his personal reasons.
Hazelwood has played three games for Chennai Super Kings IPL 2020 which was staged in the UAE because of coronavirus pandemic.
IPL 2021 is scheduled to commence from April 9 with Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore as opener of the tournament .Chennai Super Kings is going to play first IPL match on 10 April, 2021 against Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni Chennai Super Kings have lifted the IPL title thrice i.e in 2010, 2011 and 2018 and has highest win percentage i.e 61.28 among all IPL teams.
