England posted the total of 303 runs and gave India a target of 209 runs.

India started with new energy of openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul but Stuart Broad dismissed KL Rahul just before the end of day 4. KL Rahul was dismissed after scoring 28 runs in 36 balls with the help of 6 fours.

India completed the day with the score of 52/1.

It happened for the second time that Indian pacers have picked up all 20 wickets in a Test. Jasprit Bumrah has picked up 9 wickets. Mohammed Shami and Shardul Thakur have picked up 4 each. Mohammed Siraj picked up 3 wickets. Previously Team India picked up all 20 Test wickets against South Africa in Johannesburg in 2018.

Joe Root has made the record of having 50+ Test scores for 16 times and it joint-most for any England batsman. Another batsman of England with such record is Alastair Cook.

Root is the first player who has completed 1000 Test runs in the year 2021.He has registered the score of 1064 runs in nine Tests in 2021.

Root hit his ninth hundred against India and it is most for an England batsman. He surpassed Alastair Cook who was having the record of 8 centuries.

Root has hit first Test hundred in England since 2018.Previously he hit hundred in Test against India at Oval in September 2018.

Root is the fourth captain of England who hit four Test centuries in a calendar year. Other captains of England who achieved the feat are – Graham Gooch, Michael Atherton, and Andrew Strauss.

Jasprit Bumrah made his 6th five-wicket haul in Test matches as well as second in England.

Bumrah has registered the best average 21.6 among all bowlers of Asia with 50+ Test wickets outside Asia.
