Sunil Gavaskar reckons that there might be change in India squad of 11 players any time before the toss:
World Test Championship Final was set to commence between India and New Zealand.
But, for the time being, the first match is washed out because of persistent drizzling in Southampton.
India has revealed the names of their playing XI for WTC Final but New Zealand team is still to do that. They will be revealing the names of their players only after the result of the toss. At this point of time Sunil Gavaskar reckons that there might be change in India squad of 11 players any time before the toss
Former cricketer and commentator stated that India might be in need to change their playing XI because of the pitch conditions.
Gavaskar stated that changes can be done just before the toss and nothing is finalized till that time.
The legendary batsman added that changes can be done at very last moment.
Sunil Gavaskar reckons that there me be change in India squad and said that there is need to add one batsman in the team by replacing a fast bowler because the environmental conditions are favorable for the fast bowlers of New Zealand.
Sunil Gavaskar reckons that there might be change in India squad of 11 players any time before the toss:
“Yes, that’s the thing. See, they might have announced the team yesterday, [but] nothing is finalized until the captains share the sheets with each other during the toss. So, you can change the team till the very last moment. As a captain, when I used to be confused between playing a spinner or an extra batsman, I used to see the opposition’s eleven and scratch and change the team on my paper just before the toss.
“So, the eleven can be changed any time before the toss. So I feel like maybe they’ll think of playing another batsman because of the weather. Because these conditions are suitable for New Zealand fast bowlers so Rishabh Pant is at six, he might shift to seven and an extra batsman might play. Seeing this weather, one spinner might be dropped,” Sunil Gavaskar told AajTak.
