The Indian team for the much-awaited final of the World Test Championship against New Zealand and England tour is scheduled to commence from June 18 and will continue till June 22. Final of WTC matches will start at 3:00 PM IST at Southampton.
BCCI took the decision of carrying on with the successful team from the last Test series and not many changes are done in the squad.
Many former cricketers and experts expressed their views and said that there is advantage with the New Zealand team as New Zealand is going to play 2 tests before final of WTC.
First Test of on-going series is played at Lord’s Cricket Stadium .New Zealand will know English conditions in better way and compared to Indian team. Thus there will be difference in practice of both the teams.
On Thursday India team captain ,Virat Kohli expressed his views that one Test match will is not going to be the true reflection of his team, no matter even if it is the maiden final of World Test Championship.
Virat Kohli said on WTC final that it is 1 game over 5 days and not going to reflect anything.
India team skipper said “One game over five days. It’s not going to reflect anything and those who understand the game know and also what has gone over the period of last four to five years,”
Virat Kohli said on WTC final that against the Black Caps that no matter either we win or lose, cricket is not going to stop.
“If we win, cricket will not stop and if we lose also, cricket won’t stop. We are playing in quest of excellence and understand who we are as a team,” he added.
“… A team with enough batting depth and bowling resources,” he answered when he was asked about the rain and overcast conditions.
He was dismissive when the question was asked if this is going to be the biggest cricketing event of his illustrious career and he replied “No,”
Virat Kohli express his positive thought on the eve of the big battle against New Zealand and said that one game cannot be do or die game. Comparing the game with life he said that it is a fact that it is great moment but the in the way life goes on, cricket also goes on.
“This is just another Test match. All these things (WTC final) look good from the outside. One game can’t become a do-or-die game. It’s a great moment but cricket goes on just like life goes on.”
Virat Kohli said on WTC final that the game should be taken as the contest between bat and ball and nothing more than this.
Showing the optimistic attitude as captain , Virat Kohli said on WTC final that there is need to trust the abilities of the players, keep the things as simple as possible and enjoy the occasion.
“The occasion needs to be enjoyed and no more important than the first Test that we all played as young players trying to rise through the ranks. We need to have belief in our abilities and keep things simple. It’s a contest between bat and ball.”
